Kathmandu, October 1. The Nepal Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperative Unions Ltd. (NEFSCUN) is organizing its annual general meeting outside of the Kathmandu valley for the first time in 16 years. It was back in 2007 AD when the peak body of financial cooperatives of Nepal had organized the biggest annual celebration of memberhood in Nepalgunj. However, in the past there had been several occasions when the NEFSCUN had mustered courage to conduct the AGM out of the sole capital city then.

The 333rd Board Meeting of the NEFSCUN held at the federation's central location in New Baneshwor on 30 September 2024 (Monday), took the unanimous decision to take the AGM outside of the Kathmandu valley and organize it in Butwal on 20 December 2024 (Friday).

The Board meeting captained by the NEFSCUN Chair Chandra Prasad Dhakal came up with the decision to hold its upcoming 33rd AGM in Butwal (a sub metropolitan city) of Lumbini Province that has acquired global fame of a tourist destination predominantly because of being the birthplace of the beacon of peace, Gautam Buddha. Consequently, the city holds histrorical, religous as well as cultural significance.

The Senior Vice Chairperson cum Spokesperson of the NEFSCUN, Damodar Adhikari informed about the decision to the www.saccosaawaj.coop.np and said that the decision was made considering the federalism mode of governemt and also keeping in mind the voices of the members. He also expressed conviction that the upcoming mega event will see the particiaption of members in huge numbers. And the countdown has beugn too !
